This grassroots mother-and-daughter-founded sanctuary is held together by community and an unwavering passion for animals. They have saved and offered sanctuary to many equines including horses that were once wild in Placitas, NM, seniors, some with special needs, donkeys, minis, and a signature cow. Many of their rescues suffered from neglect, but now they have a forever home at Happy Rascal Ranch. We appreciate your support!

Donate
Happy Rascal Ranch is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and all donations are tax deductible. All donations are tax deductible and go toward our Hay Fund. We are Grateful for the support of the local community and beyond. All donations help, be it $13 (which covers one bale of hay), $20, $100, $500 or more. Anything is appreciated. We also accept physician in-kind donations like artwork, photography, jewelry, etc. which we can use for fundraisers toward the Hay Fund.

Sponsoring a Happy Rascal is a meaningful way to support the daily care of our rescued animals. With over 50 equines across two locations—including seniors, mustangs, donkeys, and minis—each has unique needs, and your monthly gift helps provide feed, supplements, and individualized attention. Sponsors receive a photo and updates about their animal, creating a special connection to the herd.
Volunteer
Please contact us directly if you’d like to volunteer. There is always plenty of work to be done at Happy Rascal Ranch and we can use all the helping hands we can get! If you’re interested in volunteering your time or expertise, we have a variety of jobs including mending fences, unloading hay, dispersing food, cleaning, and shoveling manure.
Workshops
We invite and encourage artists, photographers, nature and horse lovers to visit our wild horse pastures in Pena Blanca. To get outdoors, enjoy the fresh air, and embrace your passion, being motivated and inspired by the herd. Contact us directly to set up a visit.

Consistent Volunteer Opportunity
Happy Rascal Ranch is looking for caring, dependable volunteers who can commit on a regular basis—either 1–2 nights and mornings each week or on a monthly schedule. This role includes both feeding our equine residents and assisting with mindful manure management.
